Dual-Fuel: Gasoline vs. Propane
The Champion 3400 Dual Fuel Generator’s dual-fuel feature lets you run the generator on gasoline or propane. If you happen to run out of gas, just a quick turn of the fuel selector lets you run it on propane smoothly until you can replenish your gasoline supply. Included is a propane hose with a built-in regulator once again, letting you use it straight out of the box. Some RVs can carry three or more propane tanks, thus eliminating the need even to haul a gasoline supply. The engine produces 3400 starting watts and continues running at 3100 watts on a full tank of gasoline at a 25% load for seven and a half hours. However, on propane, it only produces 3060 starting watts. On propane, this unit runs at 2790 watts also at 25% load but for 14 and a half hours on a 20-pound tank so you will need to figure the cost of gas & propane, how much of each fuel you can safely haul and how long you need to run the generator to see which is the best option for your needs. Also, know that gasoline left in the tank unused will degrade after time.
The smart economy mode can reduce the electrical load, provide quieter operation, make for a better fuel economy, and extend the engine’s life. Just remember, generators are for back-up power, so don’t plan on running it continuously, shut off occasionally to give the engine rest, and do the general maintenance so the generator will last for years. With a three year limited warranty and free lifetime tech support, you can have peace of mind that this generator will work when you need it. For home, for work, or play, the Champion 3400 Dual Fuel Generator is the generator you need to get the job done. You can find a complete listing of other RV Generators here.
